Yes, a dryer can cause polyester to shrink. Most modern washing machines these days can reach temperatures of up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit on the high setting. The most shrinkage occurs between 155 and 175 degrees Fahrenheit but can occur as low as 140 degrees. When combined with hot water in the washer, it can cause the Polyester to shrink. The first wash cycle usually has the biggest impact on the polyester shrinking. Whilst Polyester is exposed to moisture and heat inside a washer, dryer or steamer, it can lead to shrinking polyester due to the fabric’s fibers being relaxed and returning to their original state which in most cases is smaller. But don’t be too worried, as it shrinks the fabric by less than 1 percentage of the original size. ![]() When these fibers are exposed to moisture, the fibers return to their original size as tension is released. ![]() This is commonly known as relaxation shrinkage and is most apparent during the manufacturing process when the polyester fibers are stretched. When exposed to moisture, it can slightly shrink polyester. Depending on the polyester blend, shrinkage of the fabric can be anywhere from 20% to 30% and more. Polyester is added to natural and handmade fibers such as wool to make them more resistant to shrinkage. It is quite common to see clothes made out of blended Polyesters, such as Cotton-Polyester, Linen-Polyester, Rayon-Polyester. Polyester can shrink because of 3 reasons: Polyester Blends For example, when washed at a high temperature in the washing machine, it can cause shrinkage. Shrinkage in Polyester usually occurs when misused or washed extensively against the recommended washing instructions. Polyester is made of synthetic fabrics that normally don’t shrink due to its resistance properties. Yes, Polyester can shrink but it’s quite resistant to it.

One way to root them out is to drop a suspicious handle into the search engine. Real sender or bot? Twitter bots are the truth-killers of the Twitterverse. If the deleted tweet isn't there, either, it probably never existed in the first place. Go to Politiwoops, a website from ProPublica that lists all deleted tweets from sitting political officials and candidates. But there's a way to check if that is true too. Sometimes fake stories will explain the missing tweet by alleging that the politician deleted it after public outcry. Again, if the tweet sounds too crazy to be true, it's worth a look at the politician's or celebrity's verified Twitter feed to see if the statement is really there. A fake news account will probably have a recent date, in response to some news item.įake news sites will also doctor a supposed screenshot of a Twitter post from a politician and report the Photoshopped statement as news. Also, check when the account was created. If it's really from a celebrity or public figure, there should be a blue verified icon next to the person's name. Is the Twitter handle real or fake? Spoof accounts are a big problem. If it's old, you'll see links going back for years, many of them from equally fake news stories. If it's truly fresh, you will only see a few links published in the past few hours. To check the history of an online image in Google Chrome, just right-click on the image and select "Search Google for image." In the wake of a real terrorist attack or natural disaster, Mantzarlis says that fake news sites will try to cash in on a heightened emotional moment by fooling readers with powerful, but unrelated pictures. What about the photo? A reverse image search is another easy way to quickly check the veracity of a new story, especially for breaking news. Simulations show that a shallow, slow, localized meandering jetstream in the same direction as Saturn's prevailing clouds are able to match the observed behaviors of Saturn's hexagon with the same boundary stability. Other researchers claim that lab studies exhibit vortex streets, a series of spiraling vortices not observed in Saturn's hexagon. Polygons do not form at wind boundaries unless the speed differential and viscosity parameters are within certain margins and so are not present at other likely places, such as Saturn's south pole or the poles of Jupiter. The presence of the vortices influences the boundary to move northward where each is present and this gives rise to the polygon effect. A number of stable vortices of similar size form on the slower (south) side of the fluid boundary and these interact with each other to space themselves out evenly around the perimeter. The shapes form in an area of turbulent flow between the two different rotating fluid bodies with dissimilar speeds. The most common shape was six sided, but shapes with three to eight sides were also produced. Similar regular shapes were created in the laboratory when a circular tank of liquid was rotated at different speeds at its centre and periphery. One hypothesis, developed at Oxford University, is that the hexagon forms where there is a steep latitudinal gradient in the speed of the atmospheric winds in Saturn's atmosphere. Multiple hypotheses for the hexagonal cloud pattern have been developed.įalse-color image from the Cassini probe of the central vortex deep inside the hexagon formation It does, however, have a vortex, and there is also a vortex inside the northern hexagon. Saturn's south pole does not have a hexagon, as verified by Hubble observations. During the Cassini mission, the hexagon changed from a mostly blue color to more of a golden color. Saturn's hexagon was discovered during the Voyager mission in 1981, and was later revisited by Cassini-Huygens in 2006. The hexagon does not shift in longitude like other clouds in the visible atmosphere. ![]() It rotates with a period of 10h 39m 24s, the same period as Saturn's radio emissions from its interior. The hexagon may be a bit more than 29,000 km (18,000 mi) wide, may be 300 km (190 mi) high, and may be a jet stream made of atmospheric gases moving at 320 km/h (200 mph). ![]() The sides of the hexagon are about 14,500 km (9,000 mi) long, which is about 2,000 km (1,200 mi) longer than the diameter of Earth. The ensuing sound of dogs rushing to find the trapped creature put fear into Ronno, who fled the area immediately. The two fought until their fighting pushed Mena into one of Man's traps. This angered Bambi, who began to fight Ronno. Ronno took this opportunity to mock Bambi, mocking him for having "a father that's so ashamed" of him. ![]() He did not meet with Bambi again until he heard that Bambi was going to leave their section of the forest to reside elsewhere with Mena. He was stopped from getting to and possibly hurting Bambi when the latter managed to jump over a large chasm, a jump Ronno was not able to make. This angered the nearby Thumper who pushed Bambi into Ronno, setting off a wild chase as Ronno angrily raced after Bambi and Thumper. Ronno joined Faline and Bambi and immediately began mocking Bambi for an incident in which he froze in fear at the sight of the Man's dogs and then mocked him for being friends with Thumper and Flower. Ronno tried to persuade Faline not to follow the sounds of the screams, callously remarking that the sound was "probably just some poor, dumb animal caught in a trap".įaline ignored his advice and rushed to help Bambi, who was still in good health despite the injury. One day, he and Faline were with each other when they heard the screams of Bambi, who had just been stabbed by Porcupine. He bragged and boasted in front of her, but she still remained unimpressed. Though he failed to initially gain the approval of Bambi and his friend group, he continued to pursue relationships with them, focusing specifically on impressing Faline. When this failed, too, he told them a story of how he had encountered Man on the meadow, which, yet again, failed to garner much of a positive response from the group, who called his story "unbelievable". Ronno was still a fawn at this point, and his antlers had just started to grow in.Īfter realizing that his groundhog-scaring was impressing no one, he instead tried to impress Bambi and his friends with his stubby antlers that he had nicknamed "Stab" and "Jab". Īccording to another source, Ronno would not meet Bambi until after the Bambi's mother died, in stark contrast to the other accounts which show him as knowing Bambi before his mother's death.Īs per this account, he met Bambi, Faline, Thumper, Flower, and Thumper's sisters shortly after scaring the groundhog, who had just predicted that an early spring would arrive for the forest. Ronno saw Bambi shortly after the latter's mother had disappeared and was elusive towards the fawn, presumably not wishing to explain to him what had happened to his mother. One day, the forest was attacked by Man, who killed many animals that day, including Bambi's mother. He would spend much time that winter conversing with and enjoying the company of Bambi, Bambi's mother, Ena, Faline, Gobo, Marena, Karus, and Nettla. Sometime before meeting Bambi, he was injured by Man, who shot his leg and gave him a permanent, slight limp. Īccording to a different account, Ronno was already an adult during Bambi's first winter. They were introduced to each other by their mutual friend, Faline, and nearly immediately became rivals. One source has Ronno meeting Bambi in the spring when Bambi was still a fawn. What is known is that he was born to a doe whose name is unknown. Sources differ greatly both on exactly how old Ronno is in comparison to the other denizens of the forest and on when he first met Bambi. As young adults, Ronno has three points on his antlers whilst Bambi only has two. Judging by his appearance, Ronno is roughly a few months older than Bambi since as fawns, Ronno had budding antlers and no spots whilst Bambi had no antlers and still had spots. As a fawn he is a braggart, a bully, a liar, a coward, manipulative and generally has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, seeming to mainly be brought about by his pride at having his antlers starting to come in and his spots having gone.Īs a fawn, Ronno had dark auburn fur, green eyes, a hole in his right ear and budding antlers.Īs a young adult, Ronno remains the same but his eyes change from green to light brown and has antlers with three points on them. He is very disrespectful to everyone, including his own mother, who he practically bullies as a fawn, and yet still goes running to at the slightest sign of danger. Though it's very clear she has no interest in him, and Bambi finally takes up the challenge when Ronno starts driving Faline away, using his antlers to force her to go where he wants her. When he is older, he challenges Bambi to fight because he hates him and wants to mate with Faline, whom he had a crush on since childhood. Ronno is, to say the least, not a very kind deer. Its story is emotional but some players may wonder why they have to bother controlling the protagonist. ![]() Emotion in such games must be experienced directly by the player as a result of their actions, and Gone Home doesn’t do this. It is necessary for writers of story exploration games to go beyond the level of emotion felt when watching a favourite TV show or reading a book. If the player only finds a few of the endings or is not interested in big philosophical topics, though, they may just be confused by the game rather than involved. This can invoke genuine existential questioning in the player about the choices they make in real life. You can make your own choices about what path to follow through the game, but are simultaneously told that you have no free will. The Stanley Parable creates emotion using the player’s own mind. The emotions caused are on level with those you might feel watching a sad movie, but your involvement doesn’t contribute to them at all. You are playing as a character who already has set values and interests and relationships that the player doesn’t share. Many moments are relatable and very touching, but you still witness them as a bystander. Playing through the game reveals the problems her family has been struggling with in secret for a long time. It begins when the protagonist returns home from a summer vacation to find her house empty and her parents and sister gone. Gone Home uses plot effectively to induce emotion. One of the goals of games in the story exploration genre is to invoke emotional or personal reflection via the story itself. The Stanley Parable allows the player to shape the experiences of their playthrough in a way that doesn’t strictly relate to completionism, and this makes for a truly interactive game. Gone Home has a moving plot, but the player can become impatient when they don’t discover anything of interest for a long time and the game can feel like a chore, something that could easily be viewed on a screen instead. This affects the perception of the game – if you obey the narrator your first time through, you get a boring but positive ending, and this will shape your interpretation of the rest of the game differently than if you completely disobey the narrator at first and end up in one of many surreal, existential positions you will experience. If you deviate from what the narrator tells you to do, the narrator becomes frustrated but must follow you as you choose your own path. The storyline follows the protagonist, Stanley, around as a narrator attempts to guide him through the story. It comes with multiple possible endings, some of which a player might not even discover until they’ve played the game a few times through. The order in which you discover the various ‘endings’ it supplies is entirely up to the choices you make throughout the game. The Stanley Parable, on the other hand, has an entirely nonlinear plot. If you miss a hidden item, you will learn less about the story, but there is nothing you can do to change its outcome. You can explore any room you choose but in many cases a key or code that will take you to the next section of the house is in the last room you visit. This is where many criticisms of Gone Home come in – you move through the story in a linear way (which is of course not unheard of in video games, but it creates a weakness when you are doing little else but move through a story). The player must have some control over story progression or else it ceases to be an interactive experience. For a lot of players, this means the experience is no different from sitting back and watching a movie this is why it’s important that the plot be immersive. PlotĪlmost every game in existence has a plot, and the plot is the entire point of story exploration games. Rather than deciding whether or not story exploration games are ‘real games,’ it could be more interesting to figure out what differentiates story exploration games from movies or TV shows. This brings attention to a different question about these games. The Stanley Parable has not dealt with the same criticisms – perhaps because it didn’t reach the same level of popularity as Gone Home did, but also perhaps because of its features. However, Gone Home has faced scrutiny from the more hardcore crowd who don’t think it’s a real game. ![]() More like interactive stories than action-packed RPGs, story exploration games like Gone Home and The Stanley Parable have captured the hearts of casual gamers across the world. Recently, story exploration has emerged as a fully fledged genre. Games such as Phoenix Wright and LA Noire where gameplay takes a backseat to story have existed for a while – games where there is no real punishment for losing and you only complete minor challenges to move forward in the story. Gone Home and The Stanley Parable: Story Exploration and Agency Like many striker-fired pistols, this has a pretty squishy trigger, but that’s to be expected. The bang switch on the CCP is serviceable, but nothing to write home about. I did truly enjoy shooting this weapon though, even through its flaws. The comfort of this weapon is great, but the frame heating just makes it unwieldy and a pain to use for long days at the range. Here’s the big problem the frame heats up incredibly fast making it too hot to touch without gloves. There is an issue that can’t be overlooked though. No more takedown tools! I was so happy to be able to take it apart with no issues. Walther was on top of things though and simplified the process by a huge margin. To stack on that point, a tool was also required, which is minor but still a negative in my book. There is no way the average shooter was gonna know how to take that thing apart. I’d been able to field strip most pistols without instruction, but not that one. It used to be that the disassembly was just so weird and needlessly complex. Luckily, Walther fixed the glaring issue of field stripping from the M1. All the functions were in the right locations for me with medium hands. I’m sure the ergonomic shape helped me shoot better as well. The grip is just crazy comfortable, you get that feeling that this pistol was specifically made for your hands. This gun was designed for comfort, and they succeeded on that front. Here you can start to see some of the design choices failing to be effective, namely in disassembly, but we’ll get there in a moment. ![]() ![]() The CCP’s handling is, well, a mixed bag. ![]() Different aspect ratios are suited to different purposes, and using the wrong aspect ratio can result in the image not being displayed correctly or looking visually unappealing. Maintaining the original aspect ratio of an image is especially important when the image is being used for a specific purpose, such as in print materials or on a website. On the other hand, if the image is resized to fit the widescreen aspect ratio, it may appear cropped or have black bars on the sides, which can also negatively affect its visual appeal. If the image is not resized to fit the widescreen aspect ratio, it will appear stretched or squished, which can make it difficult to view properly. If the aspect ratio of an image is not preserved when it is resized or cropped, the image can become distorted, which can negatively impact its visual appeal.įor example, consider an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio that is displayed on a widescreen monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio. In summary, to calculate the aspect ratio you need to divide the width of the image or video by its height, and the result can be expressed in ratio form or decimal form.Īspect ratio is important in digital imaging because it determines the shape of the image and affects how it will be displayed on different devices. Aspect ratios for still images can vary widely depending on the intended use and personal preference of the photographer. ![]() The first row in the table is the Aspect Ratio. Keep in mind that different aspect ratios are used for different types of media and devices. There are several scenarios in which you may need to create different print sizes of the same image, but would really prefer not to crop anything out of the file The table below is intended to be a quick reference to help you choose some additional sizes. It's important to note that aspect ratio is different from resolution which is the total number of pixels in an image or video, and is usually expressed as width x height, such as 800圆00 or 1920x1080. This is often expressed as the ratio ""4:3"" which represents the ratio of width to height.Īnother common way to express aspect ratio is in decimal form, for example 1.33:1 or 1.78:1. For example, if an image has a width of 800 pixels and a height of 600 pixels, the aspect ratio would be 800/600, or 1.33. To calculate the aspect ratio, you can divide the width of the image or video by its height. It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, “1366 × 768” means the width is 1366 pixels and the height is 768 pixels. The aspect ratio of an image or video refers to the proportion of its width to its height. The resolution is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. Generally, Aspect Ratio is used to describe the size of images, video, and screen size. It represents the relationship between width and height separated by a colon (x:y). While you will still lose a small portion of your image, it will be less than a 4 x 5 (8 x 10) crop. Therefore it is closer to the original image that you saw on your camera. This aspect ratio is slightly less boxy and rectangular than the 4 x 5 (8 x 10) ratio. The aspect ratio is the ratio of a geometric shape in different dimensions. This is a default ratio in Lightroom or Photoshop. Also, you can choose a ratio from Common Ratios dropdown, the respective pixels resolution (width and height) will be shown.
